Hundreds of People Die Every Day Due to a Lack of People Registered on the Bone Marrow Registry.
Everybody has seen or experienced a difficult situations where a person has lost their life because of a serious illness called cancer. Some of these cancers can be cured by a bone marrow transplant from a willing donor.
Every year, nearly two-thirds of the approximately 200,000 patients in need of a bone marrow transplant will not find a marrow donor that matches within their families.
– Georgia Governor Nathan Deal
Bone Marrow donors are urgently needed around the world to save the lives of patients with life threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. These patients need to look to the Bone Marrow donor registry to find a match. Sadly, many patients cannot find a matching donor on the registry.
Because many patients cannot find a matching donor on the registry, more donors must be added to a registry. The only thing between these patients and death is a donor.
Registering to be a member of the bone marrow registry is simple, painless and can help save a life.
